The hobby of collecting antique radios has taken off like a rocket during the last 40 years. Many have said they love to experience that awesome feeling of listening to vintage music on an old phonograph. Everything was so different during the years from 1880-1960. Life was experienced in a different way.

It was such an unusual time in American history. This golden age gives us an accessable reference point to the many advances in technology made today. We also gain another vantage point to see how far we have come over the past 130 years.

The reason many people loved these antique radios was because of their one-of-a-kind sound quality that had mesmerized the public for over 70 years and still does today. Nobody could ever forget this time in our history.

Old Radios shows played nightly and were the focus for many families in this era. With no tv, radio had no competition to divert their attention. It was a nostalgic time that still causes fond memories today.

The enthusiasm over these vintage radios is amazing to watch. When a lover of this era begins to speak, it is written all over his face. Many others loved the history of radio. It was an exciting period of time to live, the birth of modern technology.

Radio was somewhat of an enigma in the beginning. Very few understood radio signals and how they worked. Edison was labeled a magician for causing sound to be recorded and played back. He relentlessly experimented on everything that caught his fancy.

The geniuses of that era will never be forgotten. It is upon their achievement and inventive minds that formed a solid foundation for the inventions of today. Edison changed the world with the invention of the radio, phonograph and light bulb. He never gave up on any of his inventions. His tenacity was amazing! Did you ever wonder what it would be like if Edison had given up on his inventions? We would not have the radio for one. Or the light bulb to illuminate our homes, streets and businesses?

We have much to be thankful for, to these valiant men that forged the future of American life today.
